Antibiodies Galore!

I am the very lucky mother of a healthy, happy baby girl. I was blessed with a beautiful baby and a surplus milk supply. I am running out of freezer space however! I still want my baby to get the antibodies she needs even though she’s eating solid foods now and not drinking as much milk. I don’t want to slow pumping as I’m afraid my milk supply will dry up. So i have extra!

I’ll be honest, while I admire all these “i only eat organic and vegan” mothers, I’m not one of them. I eat like a normal person! I do avoid sugar and eat moderately healthy as well as take the appropriate vitamins. I also ingest caffeine, though a moderate amount. I mix a day or twos worth of milk in a container before I freeze it, so the morning caffeine is diluted and has never had any affect on my baby. I absolutely do not smoke or do drugs however.

Why chose me with my “normal” habits you ask? Ahhh, antibodies galore! I am a paramedic and have worked as a paramedic or nurse for years. I have been exposed to way, way, way more than I ever care to think about! I am never sick, and my baby has not been either. We are drug tested, so you know that won’t be an issue. One of the biggest benefits of breast milk is the ability to pass antibodies on… and in THAT regard my milk has a definite advantage!

EDIT: I forgot to add, for some of the milking (ok, “pumping” but I have many unusual descriptions.. milking, boob juice.. lol) I was on Sertraline (post postpartum kicked my butt for a while!) Sertraline is considered the safest SSRI to be on while breastfeeding. My healthy, happy, fat and sassy baby certainly hasn’t had any ill effects from it.
